Built with researchers,
for the questions ahead.
A spin-off from the Giuliani RNA Center at Brown University, Lilac is building next-generation tools to measure RNA modifications, integrity, and quality.
Our origin
From the Giuliani RNA Center at Brown University to laboratories like yours.
Lilac’s story begins in an academic research environment where the gap between powerful RNA modification science and practical day-to-day measurement was impossible to ignore.
The company’s direction is workflow-first: lower the sample barrier, stay close to familiar instrumentation, and help more researchers ask modification-aware questions.
Our mission
Make RNA modification insights more accessible, quantitative, and useful.
We believe better tools can help RNA researchers move more quickly from observation to understanding—and from understanding to impact.
How Lilac builds
Researcher-centered by design.
A product philosophy carried through the science, workflow, support experience, and digital customer journey.
01
Start at the bench
Design around samples, instruments, and time constraints scientists actually have.
02
Make the path visible
Give teams enough technical clarity to evaluate, plan, order, and run with confidence.
03
Support the question
Pair products with scientific context and access to people who understand the workflow.
04
Build for reach
Create accessible tools that can broaden participation in RNA modification research.
The Lilac team
Science, product, and operations
around one RNA platform.
Lilac combines microfluidics, RNA analytics, product development, manufacturing, and commercial experience to move ModQuant™ from validated chemistry to a dependable research workflow.
Anubhav Tripathi, Ph.D.
Co-Founder · Board Chair
A C. V. Starr Professor of Engineering at Brown University and an AIMBE Fellow, Anubhav brings decades of microfluidics and biomedical engineering experience. His earlier work helped carry microfluidic protein and DNA sizing technology from research into commercial products.
Adriana Coll De Peña, Ph.D.
Chief Executive Officer
Adriana brings experience developing microfluidic analytical methods for biologics at Moderna. She earned her Ph.D. at Brown University, where her research focused on analytical techniques for AAV, lipid nanoparticles, mRNA, and disease screening.
Shreyas Shah, M.S.
Chief Business Officer
Shreyas brings product leadership experience from Revvity and PerkinElmer, with depth in capillary electrophoresis and GMP-aligned validation. He leads Lilac’s commercial strategy, partnerships, pricing, grant portfolio, and investor reporting.
Sabrina Tolppi
Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer
Sabrina helped build the ModQuant™ validation package and leads assay development, lab operations, kit validation, and lot release. She earned her Sc.B. in Biomedical Engineering from Brown University and is a co-author of the platform’s 2024 Scientific Reports paper.
Lloyd Bwanali, Ph.D.
Director, Manufacturing & Technical Operations
Lloyd brings five years of application R&D and product experience at Revvity. At Lilac he leads manufacturing, assay transfer, supply chain, fulfillment, and quality systems.
Kruti Savani
